FONTIFICATE: ENIGMATIC ESCHER

Housed in a former palace, a visit to Den Haag's Escher Museum made it very clear to us just why generations of artists and designers have been inspired my this master of maths. While the museum charts Escher's career, from simple prints to mind-bloggling patterns, we were intrigued by his commercial work for Dutch department stores. With the festive season upon us, we've put together this sample of Escher's wrapping papers for De Bijenkorf (above), Gerzon, Jemoli and Zingone. If you want to while away some time and see more of Escher's work, then Wikipaintings will serve you well.
