Subterranean sectors are under the microscope for this year's Serpentine Pavilion, the twelfth commission to date. Architects Herzog & de Meuron who were lauded for their work for the Beijing Olympics, and artist Ai Wei Wei have taken a different approach for their commission. Rather than build a new pavilion, they have looked back to the previous eleven pavilions and gone under the ground in search of traces from the previous constructions.

From London to New York, the latest development to get speleologists excited is the revitalisation of the former Essex Street Trolley Terminal. The Low-Line promises to be an oasis of calm and serenity underneath the hubbub of New York City. We're ready to go when the work is done.
