Out and About - YINKA SHONIBARE exhibtion

YINKA SHONIBARE's major solo exhibition at the MCA is a magnificent array of vibrant colour and extravagant costume, fueled with oxy-morons. From his eye-catching headless mannequins to engaging photographic narratives, Shonibare explores ideas about contemporary African identity, the legacy of European colonialism, class structures and social justice.

"But actually, the fabrics are not really authentically African the way people think," says Shonibare. "They prove to have a crossbred cultural background quite of their own. And it’s the fallacy of that signification that I like. It’s the way I view culture—it’s an artificial construct."

Inspiration - Tate Modern

Don't you you love it when technology and art meet? Currently the Tate Modern is presenting an exhibition by one of the world’s most famous and best-loved artists, Mark Rothko. Here the Tate has begun using an interactive component to previewing the exhibition online, which is a quick but reasonably comprehensive overview of the complete exhibition

So why is this so important... well technology has really made the world - a smaller place. Normally you'd have to physically go to the gallery to see this type of exhibition but now people all the way on the other side of the world, like me, can get a good feel for the exhibition without spending thousands of dollars on flights to the UK just to see it.

Its well worth a look http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/markrothko/default.shtm
